2 Servitors arrested for abusing Puri Collector during Niladri Bije

the two servitor of the Puri Jagannath temple who has been identified as Surya Narayan Pratihari alias Babina and Raghunath Khuntia has been arrested by Singhadwar police for allegedly misbehaving with the district collector during the Niladri Bije ritual of the three deities, said by Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi.

Apart from that 15 servitors have been identified from the Close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) footage, who attacked media persons when they tried to find the reasons behind the delay in Pahandi, and the argument between the District Collector and the servitors which led to delay in Niladri Bije ritual as a young girl accompanied by a senior servitor, climbed the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra and Nandighosa chariot of Lord Jagannath.

Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi also stated that, two servitors have already been arrested by Police.

The pahandi of Sudarsana was disrupted for an hour during the Niladri Bije of the deities, the way back from the chariots to Ratna Sinhasana of the Shri Jagannath temple.

The District Collector, Arvind Agrawal has lodged two FIRs with the SP Sarthak Sarangi against six servitors who had misbehaved, abused and threatened him in a rough language while protesting the climbing of women on chariot. He was present at the spot, and had a squabble with some servitors regarding the issue.
