25,000 Seats Vacant in Pvt Engineering Colleges for 2 Years

Engineering Colleges in OdishaBhubaneswar, May 15: Now it is official that private engineering colleges in Odisha have been in dire straits for last two years. Around 25,000 seats in these private engineering colleges remain vacant for two years.

One engineering college has filed application with the Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET) to close down the institution. DTET has forwarded the application to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

It is reported that around 21 engineering colleges in Odisha have been grappling with same problem, lack of students to join into various streams. These institutions sought permission from AICTE to close some streams or downsize their intake capacity. According to reports, there will be no admission for 1170 B-Tech seats, 72 M-Tech seats, and 250 seats in MBA & MCA disciplines.
