39 ultras surrender in Odisha’s Malkangiri District

maoists-surrender in MalkangiriMalkangiri, Mar 8: As many as 39 Maoist sympathisers surrendered before Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra on Monday.  As per the reports, 39 Maoist sympathisers including seven Maoist leaders, five village committee members and three members of public relations wing of the extremists outfit were surrendered at district police headquarter. The Maoist sympathisers are natives of Kirimiti village under Mathili police jurisdiction.

Police official distributed blankets, sarees, notebooks and T-shirts to the surrendered people. The surrendered sympathizers alleged their leaders of deviating from the main ideology and killing innocent villagers . They lamented that the development work in the district has been stalled due to Maoist violent activities.

Maoist supporters in the district have been joint main stream by giving up the path of violence and surrendering before the police. On Saturday, around 150 Maoist supporters had surrendered at district police headquarter. Notably, last year more than 800 supporters were surrendered. The trend of surrendering has been rising in the district giving a big jolt to the Maoist activities and ideology.
