4,000 Non-Govt, Aided College Teachers in Odisha end Agitation

Block Grant Teachers OdishaAround 4,000 non-government and aided teachers (lecturers) in Odisha, who have been on an indefinite strike for the last couple of days, have finally called off their protest, following the assurance by Higher Education Minister Pradip Panigrahi, who had promised to resolve their issue within a month.

The teachers have been demanding regularisation of their service, regular DA, implementation of the grant-in-aid (GIA) system of salary payment and post retirement benefits. Despite several assurances in the past, the government has failed to meet their demands.

There are around 4,000 teachers and many other employees in the 662 aided colleges.
