Berhampur Mayor K Madhavi disqualified over false Affidavit

ONI Bureau: In a major jolt to ruling BJD in the State, Berhampur Mayor K Madhavi disqualified by Ganjam District Judge Court on Tuesday on grounds of submitting false affidavit in the elections following which she lost her Mayor post. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2000 on her.

The court’s judgment came following a petition filed by former Berhampur Mayor Siba Sankar Das. Reportedly, Madhavi married for the second time without taking legal separation with her first husband.

Madhavi was elected as the Corporator of Ward No. 16 of the 40-member civic body and was the first female Mayor of the Berhampur city.
