BJD to move State Election Commission against Keonjhar Councillors

Naveen-BJD-BijuBhubaneswar, Dec 30: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is mulling to file a petition before the State Election Commission against its nine councillors those voted against chairperson Meena Majhi during no-trust motion at Keonjhar Municipality.  In the no-trust motion BJD Chairperson of the municipality has lost.

The party is likely to take against these nine councillors those violated the whip issued by the party on Sunday over the non confidence motion. The party will file petition under anti-defection laws against these elected members.

Urban Development minister Puspendra Singhdeo said that the anti-defection laws has been passed in the Odisha assembly and also got assent of Odisha Governor on December 28. We will move to the commission which is the only authority to initiate action.

The councillors have threatened to move to court against the party over the issue as they had resigned from the party earlier.
