Brunda Sahu did not avail Crop Loans, claims Damodar Rout

Insight Bureau: Odisha Agriculture Minister Dr. Damodar Rout told the media that Bargarh farmer Brunda Sahu, who had committed suicide, owing to pest menace, did not avail any crop loans and was not under any debt burden.

Dr. Rout also said that reason behind Brunda Sahu’s suicide remains unclear and investigation is on to ascertain the truth. Agriculture Minister’s statement came on the basis of report submitted by District Collector and SP.

However, local residents reacted to the statement, saying Brunda Sahu had taken loans from the unofficial lenders at a high rate of interest.
