CAG Report finds irregularities in Government Schemes in Odisha

ONI Bureau:  The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India Report revealed irregularities in several schemes in Odisha.

As per CAG report, the Odisha government failed to implement Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in a proper way as a result it experienced losses to the tune of about Rs 155.33 crore Central funds.

The CAG report has also revealed that only 3.70 percent households were given water connections, against the target of providing connection to 35% households by 2017.

The audit also shows that after spending Rs 22.88 crore on the project, there were no enrolments in 42 colleges across the state. The unutilised funds were also retained in saving/current accounts that resulted in loss of interest to the tune of Rs 15.39 crore.

Likewise, road connectivity to 6,048 habitations (33%) had not been given.

Similarly, the state government spent Rs 77.84 crore more under the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project by constructing additional 56 Multipurpose Cyclone Shelters.

The CAG report pointed out that the State Govt fail to provide sophisticated equipments to the doctors for which expenditure of Rs 4.49 crore have spent.
