CAT rejects petitions filed by Suspended IPS Satish Gajbhiye

Satish GajbhiyeBhubaneswar, Dec 22: The Cuttack bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) rejected three petitions filed by suspended IPS officer Satish Gajbhiye on Tuesday.

The former Kendrapara Superintendent Police (SP) had filed petitions with the tribunal challenging his suspension order issued by the state government. On August 13, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik suspended SP Satish Gajbhiye for using excessive force against the demonstrators in the town during the agitation against Sarathi Baba in Kendrapara.

As per reports, hearing his petitions the tribunal asked Gajbhiye to file a counter in the State Police Department within 15 days.

Notably, on November 16, CAT had directed Odisha government not to take stern action against Satish Gajbhiye.
The state government suspended SP Satish Gajbhiye on August 13 following his stern action against agitators in Kendrapara on August 7. November 6, the state government has extended the suspension by six months. The union government had also confirmed suspension of Gajbhiye as per the All India Services Rules.

He was also found guilty of showing inappropriate behaviour towards the citizens and breaking All India Services Code by raising controversial maters on social media.
