Centre to form Tribunal on Mahanadi in 3 months: Nitin Gadkari

ONI Bureau: The Centre will set up a tribunal to resolve issues relating to the sharing of Mahanadi water between Odisha and Chhattisgarh, the Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday.

While replying to BJD members in Lok Sabha, the Minister said that both Odisha and Chhattisgarh need to present and discuss to resolve the issue through dialogue.

In this regard a delegation of Odisha need to meet the concern Minister to discuss about the water dispute and if the state government is not satisfied, it can meet the Prime Minister, Gadkari added.

It is to be noted that, Odisha has been demanding formation of a tribunal for a long time and reportedly in December last year, Centre refused to constitute tribunal on Mahanadi.
