Chief Minister Flags off 32 New Buses to Maoist affected Districts In an endeavor to strengthen road transport services in the Maoist affected districts in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday flagged off 32 OSTRC buses in Bhubaneswar. The new bus services were commissioned under the Biju Gaon Gadi Yojana. These 32 buses of OSRTC will be operated in the districts – Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam and Kandhamal.

Before the General Election 2014, in the first phase Chief Minister had flagged of 25 buses at Phulbani and on Tuesday, he flagged off 32 buses in the second phase. The state government had sanctioned Rs 21 crore to OSTRC to procure 100 buses to be operated in the Maoist infected district with a move to strengthen public transport.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that “the buses commissioned under the Biju Gaon Gadi Yojana prove that the state government is committed to bolster public transport system in Maoist affected districts which would definitely be of great help to the common public”.

Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi said “the buses were flagged off in the second phase to provide better services to people of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam and Kandhamal”.
