Naveen Patnaik distributes Digitized Ration Cards

CM Naveen Patnaik distributes Digitized Ration CardsChief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the digitized ration cards scheme under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) at Chakeishiani in Ward No 5 of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today. He distributed digitized ration cards to beneficiaries at a function organized there.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed happiness over distributing digitized ration cards to beneficiaries. He said new digitized ration cards would streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state and would be useful in redressing grievances. Around 60 lakh families have been benefiting under Rs 1 KG rice program every month and the program will be continued, he said.

Food and Supplies Minister of Odisha Government Sanjay Das Burma said that this scheme of digitized ration cards would be implemented across the state. Soon, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would roll out this program for the rest of the state at Jayadev Bhavan. The distribution of digitized ration cards would be completed by the end of August, minister added.

All the eligible citizens can apply for digitized ration cards in the state from today at the centres to be set up by the state government. Around 1.86 lakh beneficiaries will get digitized ration cards in BMC and Bhubaneswar block.
