Cops crack High Profile Robbery Case, arrest 6 Accused

Robbery-Justice-MohantyThe Commissionerate Police has cracked the high profile robbery case at Retd. Justice PK Mohanty’s Cuttack residence on May 30 and arrested 6 out of 10 accused. Efforts are on to arrest the remaining people, who are still at large.

The gang leader was identified as Ramakanta Parida alias Kalia (42). The cops followed him from Balasore and arrested in Chandikhol. Other accused have been identified as Pramod Samal and Manas Swain (Kendrapara), Deepak Sutar (Nemala), Mohd. Abdul Rehan (Salepur) and Ramesh Pradhan, who helped in selling the gold.

The cops revealed that the robbers were very clever and left little clue. However, they had carried out a similar robbery in Salepur area earlier. The investigating team followed that case and got the lead to nab the accused. The police seized Rs 3.55 lakh cash, two gold pieces of 300gm each, a bike, 7 mobiles and some SIM cards.

Robbery1-Justice-MohantyThey had melted down the gold ornaments. While one gold piece of 230gm belonged to the Judge, the other gold piece was of another person of Salepur area from where they looted cash and gold earlier.

In total, 10 people, including the Driver had reached the Judge’s residence in a Bolero. The driver fled the spot when the dacoits entered the house. They finished the robbery by 3:30 AM. One group of 6 people left in the Bolero, while other group of 3 people left for Bhubaneswar in Judge’s car and dropped it at Rasulgarh Square.

The robbers took the route of Badamba, Athgarh and Khuntuni to reach Chandikhol. They distributed the cash and gold among themselves in Olasuni. According to the police, Kalia has 17 cases registered against him earlier.
