Court Bomber gets 10 Years Imprisonment in Odisha

Juvenile CourtBhubaneswar, May 22: The District and Sessions Judge Court sentenced 10 years imprisonment to a  man convicting him in crude bomb hurling case. Accused, Upendra Mohanty alias Netaji, hurled a crude bomb at dais of CBI Special Court Judge in Bhubaneswar on January 27, 2014.

Hearing the case, Assistant Session Judge PL Satpathy awarded 10 years of imprisonment to Upendra Mohanty for hurling crude bomb in the court. It is noteworthy that, he has spent 35 years of his life for such crimes in past.

As per the reports, on January 27, 2014, Mohanty belonging to Sarangpur village Bari in Jajpur district hurled two crude bombs at CBI Special Court Judge dais during lunch time when it was vacant. No one injured in the explosion but damaged the court property. Following the incident, Badagada police arrested him under IPC sections 307, 342, 341 and ¾ of Explosive Act.

He has been staying in the court premises since 2008. He was also jailed for 10 years for hurling crude bomb in Supreme Court in 1994.
