Deep Depression over Bay of Bengal; Heavy rainfall likely in 6 Dists of Odisha

ONI Bureau:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday informed that depression over southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into deep depression and moved north-northwestwards.

The storm is expected to intensify into a Cyclonic storm in next 24 hours & into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in subsequent 36 hours.

Under the impact of Cyclone Phethai, moderate rain and thundershower likely to occur at a few places of Odisha on December 16, at many places over districts of interior Odisha and coastal Odisha on December 17 and December 18.

However, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for coastal Andhra Pradesh and 6 districts in Odisha including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal on December 17.
