Demolition Drive triggers Violence in Bana Baba Ashram

The Puri district administration on Friday started demolition drive at the ashram of self-proclaimed godman, Bana baba which was built illegally in the forest near Konark, Odisha.

Hundreds of followers including women of Bana baba turned violent and attempted self-immolation at the time of demolition drive started over there.

Around 20 people, including 10 women were arrested and section 144 has been imposed in the area.

The demolition drive is being carried in the presence of Puri Deputy Collector, Additional SP, three DSPs and senior officials of the Forest Department.

As per the Revenue Department sources the Bana Baba ashram extended on around 19.6 acres of forest land.
