Gajapati Maharaj invites Sankaracharya for Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, May 26: In a significant development, the Gajapati Maharaj invited Sankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati to attend Rath Yatra today. And, Sankaracharya agreed to attend the car festival with his six disciples.

Earlier, the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) had said that a formal invitation will be sent to Sankaracharya to attend the car festival. Chief Administrator of SJTA, Suresh Mohapatra said that they don’t have any objections about Sankaracharya attending the grand occasion along with his six disciples. He added that Sankaracharya and disciples can have ‘darshan’ of deities on the Snan Mandap while others are not allowed.
