Jaundice Outbreak in Cuttack City, 89 test Positive

Jaundice outbreaks in Cuttack city as 89 people had tested positive on Tuesday evening according to official sources. Following the outbreak, the officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Health Department have taken up urgent measures including fixing cracked water pipes and distributing halogen tablets.

Chief District Medical Office, Dr. Prafulla Behera said that nine blood samples out of 10 were found positive and infected by Hepatitis-E virus on Tuesday. It is noteworthy, due to the water-borne virus, Jaundice 24 people were died in Sambalpur last month. 16 people including two children belong to Thoria Sahi and Hrijan Sahi were affected, local people alleged of getting contaminated drinking water.
