MLA Debasis Nayak justifies Section 307 against ‘Egg Attackers’

BJD MLA from Bari, Debasis Nayak, has justified the charges under Section 307 of the IPC against the Youth Congress activists, who dared to hurl eggs on Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s car en route to Utkal University earlier last week.

Debasis Nayak, while participating in a debate on Kanak TV tonight, made a funny argument that eggs can be lethal and life threatening if they hit a person. The anchor asked him whether these eggs were capable of breaking the glasses of the car in which the CM was travelling.

The issue has triggered a massive uproar with the political parties and intelligentsia terming the police action as a ‘vendetta’ and ‘revenge politics’. “The youth can be arrested for breaching law and order, but charging them under Section 307, is outrageous and shows the dictatorial and ruthless attitude of the government,” they argued.
