No Huge Impact of Low Pressure Rains on Odisha

SRC-Pradipta-MohapatraSpecial Relief Commissioner Shri Pradipta Mohapatra, who met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today to brief him about the possible rains and situation aftermath, has allayed the fears and apprehensions, saying the rains won’t have any big impact on Odisha, as speculated in a section of media.

The SRC confirmed that the low pressure will pass through the coast between West Bengal and Bangladesh. As a result, South Odisha districts will witness little rain on December 29. Some areas in North and Coastal Odisha will also witness some rains on December 30 and 31, but there is no need to panic, he said.

As this is a harvesting time, the farmers have been advised to preserve the paddy and other items with cover so that they don’t get damaged during the rains. Otherwise, the rains won’t create havoc in the state, said Mr. Mohapatra.
