Odisha BJP calls dawn-to-dusk bandh in Jharsuguda

bandh-jharsugudaBhubaneswar, Nov 18: Normal life disrupted in Jharsuguda district on Wednesday due to 12-hour bandh called by Odisha BJP leaders over drought issues. The leaders have been demanding the state government to declare Jharsuguda district as drought-hit.

Raising the farmers’ plight in the district, they demanded the state government to declare the district as drought-hit and pay the compensation to affected farmers in the district. Shops and commercial establishments in the district were shut down supporting strike called by the saffron party.

The party leaders protested on roads ceasing all the vehicle movements in the district. They alleged that farmers in the district were suffered as scanty rainfall affected their paddy crop and pets outbreaks in five blocks. Demanding compensation for drought-hit farmers, BJP MLA Radharani Panda has been on hunger strike since Monday.
