Odisha BJP’s Helpline Numbers receive 265 Complaints from Farmers

(3)Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The two helpline numbers of Odisha BJP unit received as many as 265 complaints from distress farmers in Odisha in one day of its launching. The party has started helpline numbers appealing distress farmers of drought hit regions not to suicide.

State BJP leader have expressed happiness over the response from farmers to these helpline numbers. Senior leader of BJP unit, Bijyo Mohapatra said that 265 distress farmers from 22 districts have lodged complaints at party’s helpline numbers in 24 hours of its launch.

He said as per the complaints received from farmers, they uttered that most of the farmers had taken loan from usurers at a higher rate of interest to invest in agriculture. And, less rainfall in the state led to drought situation shattering all their hopes and they became debt ridden.  He said that many farmers in the state have committed suicide due to crop loss and drought. Party leaders said that they are preparing a list of affected farmers, category wise, which will be sent to the central government.
