Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Odisha cabinet approved a policy ‘Housing for All’ in an endeavor to provide affordable housing for poor people in urban areas. This decision was taken a in state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday here. The policy aimed to benefit the economically weaker section and lower income group residing in urban areas.
Under this policy, the state government would implement affordable housing projects, development projects and slum rehabilitation projects in urban areas. Chief Secretary G C Pati said that urban poor population would be benefited from this project and the state government was intended to address the housing deficit. Besides protecting the interest of urban poor population, the policy aims to provide steady affordable housing supply as per the growth in demand.
State government agencies such as Odisha State Housing Board, Development Authorities and Urban Local Bodies will also be benefit from this policy. Odisha Hosing Mission is likely to be set up in Odisha under this new policy to provide affordable housing in urban areas across the state.
