Odisha Govt extends Gajbhiye’s suspension by 6 Months

Satish GajbhiyeBhubaneswar, Nov 6: Odisha government has extended the suspension duration of controversial Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kendrapara Satish Gajbhiye by six months.

This decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary last week, and the decision of the meeting was not disclosed by then. It was speculated that the government would increase the suspension period of Gajbhiye.  The meeting was attended by Home Secretary Asit Tripathy, General Administration Secretary G.V.V. Sharma and Home Department’s Special Secretary.

Notably, on August 13, the Odisha Government suspended former Kendrapra SP Satish Gajbhiye for using excessive force against the demonstrators agitating against Sarathi Baba on August 7. He was also found guilty of showing inappropriate behaviour towards the citizens.
