Odisha Govt fixes Ceiling Prices for Mineral Transport

MinesBhubaneswar, Aug 8: Odisha government fixed the maximum freight rates for mineral transportation in five districts with immediate effect. The state government announced the new freight rates on Friday with an aim to restrict truck owners from charging excess prices to transport minerals.

The maximum freight rate for six-wheeler trucks is pegged at Rs.6.4 per tonne per km. Rate for ten-wheeler would be Rs.5.10 per tonne per km. And the ceiling rate for 12-wheeler  is set at Rs.4.10  per tonne per km.

Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said that the state government issued a notification regarding the ceiling prices for three category vehicles – 6-wheeler, 10-wheeler, and 12-wheeler  plying in and outside five districts – Angul, Jajpur,  Kenojhar, Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur.  He added that the new ceiling fright charges will be come into force with immediate effect. The minister added that the maximum rates would be charged for minerals transportation for more than 100 km.
