Odisha Govt to set up 10 Raw Material Testing Laboratories for Handloom

HandloomOdisha government have decided to set up ten Handloom Raw Material Testing Laboratories in the State to promote & facilitate the continuous growth of the handloom industry and to provide employment to the poorer sections of the society.

During 2016-17 year, the State government has decided to set up 19 handloom clusters in block levels. Besides all clusters the raw material examination centre will set up at Bargarh, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Patanagad, Sonepur, Athagad, Gopalpur, Balesore, Baripada, Berhampur, Boudh and Khorda.

High quality machines and adequate technical assistance will be provided to the centres to get better result, said the Minister for Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Snehangini Chhuria.

It is to be noted that, by the help of the co-operatives annually 210 crore handloom products are selling in the market.
