Odisha Govt withdraws ‘Tourist Spot’ status to Trahi Achyuta Ashram

Trahi Achyuta AshramBhubaneswar, Sep 3:  The Odisha government has withdrawn ‘tourist spot’ status to Trahi Achyuta Ashram, located in Jhinti Sasan under Balipatana police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, on Thursday. The Ashram was listed in the “List of Tourist places of the District” on its district official website. Now it is excluded from the list.

The Odisha government took the decision following the arrest of chief of Ashram Sura Baba alias Surendranath Mishra and his two sons in connection with illegal activities. Odisha police slapped many cases against Sura Baba and his two sons; they were arrested on August 31. The government had assured to remove the tag after investigating into the matter.

It is noteworthy that, two notorious criminals belong to Bihar were arrested from the Trahi Achyuta Ashram on August 18 by the Special Task Force from Bihar and Odisha Police. It was reported that the duo criminals had been staying there since last decade.
