Odisha Lawyers call off strike after CM’s assurance

Odisha LawyersBhubaneswar, Sep 29: Odisha lawyers have called off their strike after getting assurance from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) abolition issue.

The Bar Council of Odisha and SAT Bar Association called strike on Monday opposing the state government’s decision to abolish OAT followed by approval of Odisha Cabinet on September 9.  A delegation of lawyers called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and handed over a memorandum to him.

Before meeting the Chief Minister, the delegation met Law Minister Arun Sahoo. They expressed happiness over the Chief Minister’s assurance. However, they decided to join the court with wearing black badges as a mark of protest until the decision was taken by the state government over OAT abolition.
