Odisha pays Rs. 40 Cr Agriculture Input Subsidies to 1 lakh farmers

Chief Minister-in-meetingBhubaneswar, Nov 27: Odisha government has distributed Rs.40 crore agriculture input subsidies to one lakh farmers in the state. And, under rural housing scheme, 3, 91,000 houses have been built for the poor people.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the progress of disbursement of agriculture input subsidies at district level at a meeting convened at Sate Secretariat here on Thursday. Reviewing the work done to address drought situation and distressed farmers’ plight, the Chief Minister directed the district collectors to expedite then disbursement of subsidies further.

He expressed satisfaction over the disbursement of agriculture input subsidies made in the districts – Angul, Bargarh, Bolangir, Koraput, Rayagarha, Sambalpur and Subarnapur. It was also informed in the meeting that 3,91,000 houses have been built under rural housing scheme and state government aimed to construct 7 lakh houses for poor people by the end of 2015.

Expressing concern over loan burden of distressed farmers, the Chief Minister directed top police officials to check the money laundering activities of usurers in their respective areas including drought-hit regions in the state.

Reviewing the Biju express way and Vijayawada-Ranchi corridor work, the district collectors were directed to expedite the process of land acquisition process by the Chief Minister.
