Odisha signs MoU to complete Khordha-Bolangir Rail Line in 6 Years

Khordha-BeguniaA Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed today between the Union Railways and Odisha Government to complete the Khordha-Bolangir rail line within six years. Out of the total estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore, the state government will share 50% and also provide land free of cost.

The MoU signed in the presence of Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu, Odisha Commerce & Transport minister Ramesh Majhi and Odisha Assembly speaker Niranjan Pujari. Out of the total length of 289 kms rail route, work on 32 kms between Khordha and Begunia, has already been completed. It was inaugurated only last week.

The Khordha-Balangir rail line project, has been long pending. For over 22 years, the project was halted for various reasons. The actual work started in 2007, but at a tardy pace. Currently, work is going on the 112-km stretch between Begunia and Daspalla.
