Police busted Illegal Arms Manufacturing Unit in Khorda

Bhubaneswar, May 17: The Commissionerate Police busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit on Saturday and arrested two people during surprise raid. Quick Action Team (QAT) of police acting on a tip-off raided the unit at Panichhatra village under Jankia police jurisdiction in Khorda district.

During the raid by QAT, police seized weapons, fire arms, raw material, ammunition raw mater materials. Police arrested Babuli Moharana, owner of the manufacturing unit and Adhikari Moharana, associate.

After the raid, Commissioner of Police Dr R P Sharma said the raid was carried out after getting tip-off about the illegal arms unit and activities being carried out in the areas. Inspector-in-charge of Tamando police station Kishore Chandra Munda and staff got reliable information about tw persons carried illegal arms near Kalinga Vihar-Ghatikia road, during patrolling, after that plan for a surprise raid was chalked out.

Police team seized during the raid were one 7.65 mm pistol, one country made single shot pistol, three country made revolvers, three half-constructed revolvers and 36 rounds of live ammunition.
