President Pranab Mukherjee cuts short Odisha Visit due to Wife’s Illness

President Pranab Mukherjee has taken the unprecedented decision of cutting short the Odisha visit due to his wife’s sudden illness. He will return to New Delhi tonight. He was on a two-day visit to Odisha.

Earlier, President Mukherjee had arrived in Bhubaneswar at around 1:45 PM. He was welcomed by Governor SC Jamir and CM Naveen Patnaik at the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar.

The President proceeded straight to Rameswar in Khurda district. He attended the golden jubilee celebrations of Rameswar High School and addressed the students as well as the people present there.

Later, President Mukherjee went to Puri and spent some time at the Raj Bhavan before visiting Lord Jagannath Temple to pay obeisance before the deities. He was presented a memento, which carries the pictures of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

President Pranab Mukherjee was scheduled to attend the convocation of National Law University, Odisha at Cuttack tomorrow morning and then inaugurate an all India seminar on ‘Global Legal Education’ being organized by the Confederation of Indian Bar in association with KIIT University in the evening.
