Puri Railway Station arson: Odisha Govt recommends NIA Probe

train catches fireBhubaneswar, Nov 27: The Odisha government on Friday recommended the Union government for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the Puri railway station arson case. Notably, fire broke out from three stationed trains at Puri Railway Station on November 12. However, no causality was reported in the incident.

As per latest reports over the case, Odisha police has approached the Union Home Affairs Ministry for a NIA probe into the case of burning of three stationed trains at Puri. Notably, despite 15 days of the investigation into the case, apparently the investigating officials did not achieve any major breakthrough in this case.

In this connection, Railways police have taken accused Subhash Ramachandran into custody and investigating his involvement in the case. Subhash, a person from Tamil Nadu said to be involved in the act as police seized knife, blade and matchbox from his possession during his arrest.

He reportedly admitted that plan to set trains on fire at Puri station was hatched by a terrorists group based in Mumbai.
