Rajnath reviews Flood Situation in Odisha; 4.81 lac People affected

Odisha-FloodsNew Delhi, Aug 3:  Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday reviewed the flood situation in Odisha and West Bengal and assured both state governments of full central support, an official statement said.

He spoke to the chief ministers of both the states – Naveen Patnaik and Mamta Banerjee – and inquired about the flood situation in the states, the statement said.

“He assured (the affected states) of full central support to deal with the situation,” it said.

In Odisha, 4,80,399 people are affected. So far 1574 people have been evacuated to safer places. Seven relief camps have been opened.

So far, 69 deaths have been reported from various parts of West Bengal in flood-related incidents, it said. A total of 2,213 relief camps have been opened for about 50 lakh affected people and 234 boats have been deployed for rescue and relief operations in the state. Gujarat, Rajasthan and Manipur have also been affected by floods.
