Rayagada Police arrested Pseudo Maoist

Pseudo MaoistRayagada, Jan 16: Recently several posters by red rebels were seen in villages around Kalyan Singhpur block headquarters and in Sikarpai village. It may be noted that an affluent person named Gandhi Gopala Chetty was annihilated by the Maoists a year back in his own village Sikarpai. Since then, at different point of times, posters were pasted at prominent places of Sikarpai and nearby villages warning the compradors on tribal land alienation, exploitation, etc.

Rayagada police had a strict vigil over these incidents. And at last the police have been successful in busting this case and proved that extortion was going on in this area in the name of Maoists.

According to a press note released by the District Police Head Quarters, on 31-12-2015 at 11 AM one Sri Dhaneswar Raut of Sikarpai police station of Kalyan Singhpur block threatened Sri Penniti Ramesh, son of Janardan Naidu of Pujariguda village under PS-K.Singhpur identifying himself as a member of Maoist group and demanded five lakhs rupees through his mobile number9437721037. As Ramesh denied complying to the demand and urged that he committed no wrong.

The accused Dhaneswar with others again threatened the victim Ramesh  affixing posters in Sikarpai area in the name of Maoists. So, he was arrested on last Thursday. On thorough interrogation it is learnt that the accused Dhaneswar along with his associates similarly threatened and collected money from different persons; but out of fear they did no t report the matter to police. According to the press note, police is still investigating the case and unearth the racket in due course of time. The case refers to K.Singhpur PS case no-11 dated 13-1-16 u/s 419/384/506 IPC.

Said Dhaneswar Raut, posing himself as a reporter of Dharitri new paper, was earlier involved in a cheating case and a forest case and was in jail custody. From reliable source, it is known that he was earlier a reporter in news papers like Utkal Mail and Anupam Bharat. He was extorting money since he started posing as news reporter. He was even Block Vice-President of BJP in K.Singhpur block.

He was taking advantage of Bandhs, Martyr week, previous killings in the locality by Naxalites, etc and the fear psychosis of the local public. If affixing fake posters and extortion were going on for some months, the reasons of keeping mum and denial of these fake posters by the red rebels have been a point of concern. Culprit’s nexus with the ultras can not be denied, said locals of the area maintaining anonymity.
