Rayagada Police busted Dreaded Dacoit Gang

Rayagada PoliceRayagada, Dec 31: District police has been able to bust a dreaded dacoit gang on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off Rayagada police caught the dacoit gang red handed and recovered house breaking instruments, liquor, lethal weapons like swords and knives, cash amounting Rs. 6575, torch lights, etc.

One fortune car bearing registration no-OR-02-BA-8199 and one pulsar 150 CC motorbike bearing registration no-OD-10B-6175 were also recovered from the spot.

The accused persons are – Nandana Kumar Sahoo(44), son of Gnanaranjan Sahu of P-2953 of Nageswar Tangi, Bhubaneswar, Minaketan Khosla(25), s/o late Murali Khosla of Kumbhikota, Rayagada, Sripati Kousalya(42) alias Prasad, s/o-Sukuru Kousalya of Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh, Nageswar Kandagiri(30), s/o-Chinna Rao Kandagiri, Village-Rella, PS-Gumma Laxmipur, Dist-Vizainagaram(AP), Ananda Rao Pasporeddy(35), s/o-Saranga Pasporeddy of Village-Rella, PS-Gumma Laxmipur, Dist-Vizainagaram(AP), Chetty Naidu(48), s/o-Kurma Naidu of Bobili, Vizianagaram(AP), Dhanursti Garadia(42), s/o-Guru Garadia of R K Nagar, Rayagada, Edgella Sova(42), s/o-Y Gurugulla of Reli Sahi, Rayagada, Upendra Khosla(28), s/o-Purna Chandra Khosla of Kemili, Badapadar, Dasamantapur, Koraput, at present staying at 6th lane Hatipathar Road, Rayagada, Narendra Khosla(29), s/o-Late Gopinath Khosla of Pipalpadar, Laxmipur, Koraput at present staying at women’s college backside Harijan sahi, Rayagada assembled in the mango grove near Halwa village with house breaking instruments & lethal weapons in the intervening night of 30th December in order to commit dacoity in some ATM counters of Rayagada.

Rayagada Police-1In the meantime Chalasani Arjun Rao of Ameerpet, Hyderabad reported that he alongwith his friend Vara Prasad came to Gunupur to purchase available land as the land in the region was too cheaper than Andhra Pradesh. During their visit to Gunupur they came in contact with the accused persons alongwith one Mahesh who cheated them with a cash of Rs.90,000 and Rs.9,75,000 by fraudulently alluring them that they would provide them with one Hanuman coin of the year 1818 which could be sold to a company for 100 crores of rupees.

To create belief in the mind of the victims, the accused persons Sripati Kousalya alias Prasad & Narendra Kumar Sahoo posed themselves as agents of one Maxwell company of Mumbai and assured the victims that the said company would purchase the coin after confirming the genuineness of the coin. The accused persons motivated the victims to invest money in purchasing the coin in stead of purchasing the land. Being trapped with the versions of the accused persons on 29th December at about 3 PM Arjun Rao delivered the cash beside the river bank at the rear side of Sankesh Temple. Police has recovered the cheated cash amounting Rs.10.75 lakhs  from Hotel Sai Residency room no-208 at Rayagada town.

Upendra Khosla and Narendra Khosla were also involved in robbery of Rs.2,62,000 near GCD High School ground gate from a peon of Rayagada Municipality office. Out of this robed amount Rs.60,000 has been recovered and the Scooty was seized used in the robbery.

On 18th of March, the accused persons robbed Rs.2,35,000 from one Madhusudan Sabar of Gunupur. Apart from the described incidents, the accused persons are also involved in a number of cheating and dacoity cases in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The case was revealed through a press conference held at Rayagada Police Station where the SP, DSP and IIC were present.
