Rs 714 cr deposited in Jan Dhan Accounts in Odisha, says FM Arun Jaitley

Addressing the Budget Session in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that around Rs 714 crore has been deposited in Jan Dhan accounts in Odisha in the post demonetization period that is from November 9, 2016 to January 25, 2017.

Rs 1960 crore was deposited in Jan Dhan accounts in Odisha since the launch of Jan Dhan accounts in August 26, 2017 while the figure rose to Rs 2,675 crore following demonetization.

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a National Mission launched by the government of India to provide easy access to financial services such as credit, insurance, pension, savings and deposit accounts to poor and needy section of the society. PMJDY accounts are being opened with Zero balance.
