Sarala Realcon Link: Papu Pom Pom grilled by EOW in Odisha

The BJD government in Odisha had more embarrassment in store after the nailing of many of its leaders in chit fund scam, as party leader and film actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pom Pom was grilled by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch in connection with his links with Sarala Realcon Pvt. Ltd, the real estate company, under scanner for alleged land fraud.

Papu Pom Pom acted in Odia film ‘Chauka Chhaka’ produced by Gayadhar Jena, MD of Sarala Realcon, who is facing land fraud charges. Papu was asked what was the total profit he made from the movie and what was the amount of money invested in the film. It is believed that Gayadhar Jena had invested crores of rupees collected from potential customers in the movie.

Papu Pom Pom, who unsuccessfully contested from Champua in Keonjhar on a BJD ticket during the 2014 assembly polls, was seen as a blue-eyed boy of CM Naveen Patnaik. He was subjected to a two-hour grilling by the EOW.

Gayadhar Jena was arrested by the EOW on March 16 for cheating hundreds of customers of crores of rupees. He was granted bail on May 19 after promising to pay off around Rs 7 crore within a stipulated time period. Later, his partner Nibas Jena was arrested on May 7, while the Marketing Director of the company, Kailash Chandra Muduli was arrested on June 19 for embezzling Rs 30 lakh from the company account.
