SC confirms OERC order to cancel licenses of 3 Power discoms

Insight Bureau:  The Supreme Court on Friday confirmed the orders of Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission to cancel licenses of NesCo, WesCo and SouthCo, three power distribution companies,  for poor performance and financial trouble that hindered their operations.

Earlier, the Commission headed by former bureaucrat SP Nanda, ordered the cancellation of power distribution licences of these 3 Reliance Infra power discoms owned by Anil Ambani’s Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. under section 19 of the Electricity Act for their gross failure in raising their performance.
