As per the decision taken in a meeting held between the temple and district administration officials for the annual Car Festival to be held on 6th July, the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided not to allow the devotees to climb atop the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the eve of world famous Rath Yatra in Puri.
However, they can touch the chariots at Saradhabali near Gundicha Temple after the chariots reach its destination on its onward journey.
Special barricades would be put up to avoid any adverse situation.
“Devotees won’t be allowed to climb the chariots during Soona Besha, Adhara Pana and Niladri Bije like the previous year”. Close CCTV cameras will be installed around the chariots. Strict actions will be taken if anybody fails to comply the instructions, said by SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.
