Veteran Odia Actress Manimala Devi passes away at 90

Yester years’ renowned Odia actress Manimala Devi passed away on Thursday afternoon in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. She was 90 years old. The actress is survived by her son Shankar Ghosh.

The actress was suffering from aging related complications and severe chest congestion for which she had been admitted to the Hospital.

Manimala Devi had acted in around 40 films and over 100 plays. Nishiddha Swapna, Kichi Smruti Kichi Anubhuti and Andha Diganta are some of her famous works.

People from different fields including Odia film industry, cultural associations, artists etc mourned the demise of Manimala Devi.

For her outstanding contribution in the field of art and culture, she was conferred with various prestigious awards such as the state’s highest cine award ‘Jayadev Purashkar’in the year 2000 and the national award ‘Sri Loknath’ among others.
