World Bank team visits Central University of Orissa, Koraput

WOrld BankA team from the World Bank visited the Central University of Orissa, Korpaut along with Shri G.V.V Sarma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha on Wednesday and had a discussion with Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor of the University. The team comprises Mr. Kurt Larsen, Sr. Education Specialist & TTL; Mr. Surendra Agrawal, Cunsultant; Mr. Rudraksh Mitra, Consultant; Ms. Kalyani Kandula, Environment Safeguard Specialist and Ms. Manvinder Mamak, Finance.

Project Director of Koraput district and key officials of the University present on the Occasion. The discussion mainly focused on Higher Education Strategy for the back ward region of Odisha and the role Cent u could play. Prof. Mohanty informed them about the different activities taken by the University for Regional Development including the activities undertaken in the five adopted village adjacent to the University. Different subjects and research programme offered, infrastructure development and academic milestone achieved by the University were also placed in the discussion.

He expected large section of student from the KBK region may take admission in the present session, in view of the Education Strategy for the back ward region of Odisha adopted by the University. The team praised Prof. Mohanty for his outstanding effort in Education Strategy and expect the University is going to be a hub of quality higher education. Prof. Mohanty thanked the Government of Odisha for the support extended to the university to carry out the mission and he also thanks the World Bank team and Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha.
