Bengaluru Test, Day 1: South Africa 214; India 80/1

India-SAIndia ended on a high at stumps on Day 1 of the second Test match in Bengaluru, putting South Africa on defensive yet again. In reply to South Africa’s first innings total of 214, India finished at 80/0.

The Proteas bowled out for a paltry 214. Indian spin attack wreaked havoc. Jadeja and Ashwin took four wickets each. For South Africa, AB de Villiers (85) and Elgar (38) showed some resistance.

In reply, Indian openers batted sensibly barring a couple of missed opportunities by the South African fielders. At stumps, they were 80/0. Vijay (28) and Dhawan (45) were at the crease. India had won the Mohali Test and lead the four-match series 1-0.
