England win Ashes Series 2015, Clarke to retire after 5th Test

Stuart BroadWith a massive victory by an innings and 78 runs, England claimed the Ashes series 2015 with one Test to go. England are now leading the series 3-1. Meanwhile, Australian skipper Michael Clarke has announced retirement from the international cricket after the 5th Test match in Oval.

Australia never recovered from the first innings disaster of 60 all out and that determined the course of the game. In the second innings, they scored 253. Rogers (52), Warner (64) and Voges (51*) were the top scorers. For England, Ben Stokes took 6 wickets, while Mark Wood took 3 wickets.

That was not enough for Australia to avoid an innings defeat. England had scored 391/9. Joe Root (130), Cook (43), Bairstow (74) and Moeen Ali (38) were the top scorers. Starc took 6 wickets, while Hazlewood took 2 wickets.

Australia had bowled out for a paltry 60 in the first innings. Johnson (13) and Clarke (10) were the top scorers. Stuart Broad had taken 8 wickets. He was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his superb bowling in the first morning.
