India beat New Zealand 3-2 in Davis Cup, qualify for World Group

Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri produced their best performance, as India, which trailed 1-2 earlier, defeated New Zealand 3-2 to book a berth in the World Group play-offs. Somdev beat Marcus Daniell, while Yuki best Michael Venus.

Earlier, Somdev had lost the first singles to Michael Venus, but Yuki had beaten Marcus Daniell. India had lost the doubles tie to concede the lead to the Kiwis.

Rohan Bopanna/Saketh Myneni had suffered a shock defeat to Marcus Daniell/Artem Sitakshi in the doubles to make things difficult for Somdev and Yuki.
