ISSF World Cup: Pooja Ghatkar bags Bronze Medal in 10m Air Rifle Event

PoojaIndian shooter Pooja Ghatkar made the country proud by winning a bronze medal on Friday in the women’s 10m Air Rifle event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in New Delhi.

China’s Mengyao Shi clinched the gold medal while Dong Lijie captured the silver medal and Pooja, who scored a total of 228.8, finished third in the event.

This was Pooja’s first World Cup medal. Earlier on March 2016, Pooja just missed out a medal after ending up fourth in the women’s 10m air rifle event. She had won a gold medal at the Asian Air Gun Championship in 2014.

Twenty-eight year old shooter had narrowly missed out on winning a quota berth for the 2016 Rio Olympics, is now looking forward to 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
