Kohli hits Ton, as India beat South Africa in 1st ODI

ONI Bureau: Virat Kohli scored his 33rd ODI hundred and 3rd in the last 4 ODIs, as India thrashed South Africa by 6 wickets in the first ODI in Durban to take a 1-0 lead in the six-match ODI series.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 269/8 in 50 overs. Faf du Plessis was the top scorer at 120. Quinton de Kock (34), Chris Morris (37) and Phehlukwayo (27*) were the top contributors. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets, while Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 wickets.

India lost Rohit Sharma (20) and Shikhar Dhawan (35) with 67 runs on board. However, Kohli (112) and Ajinkya Rahane (79) added 189 runs for the third wicket, which changed the course of the game.

India reached 270/4 in 45.3 overs and won the match. For South Africa, Phehlukwayo took two wickets. Kohli was the obvious choice for ‘Player of the Match’ award.
