New Zealand beat Fighting Scotland in World Cup

New-Zealand-ScotlandNew Zealand survived a late scare to beat minnows Scotland by 3 wickets at Dunedin in 2015 World Cup. It was their second consecutive victory from as many matches. At one state, Scotland were 12/4, but they recovered well to post 142 in 36.2 overs.

Matt Machan (56) and Richie Berrington (50) revived the Scotland innings. For New Zealand, Daniel Vettori and Corey Anderson took three wickets each, while Tim Southee and Trent Boult took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 143, New Zealand were 106/3, but lost a few quick wickets to slump to 137/7. They finally reached 146/7 in 24.5 overs and won the match by 3 wickets. Kane Williamson (38) and Grant Elliott (29) were the top scorers. For Scotland, Iain Wardlaw and Josh Davey took three wickets each. Trent Boult was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
