New Zealand beat India in 2nd T20I; level Series

Colin-MunroInsight Bureau: New Zealand scored an emphatic 40-run win over India in the 2nd T20I to bring the series to level at 1-1 with one match to go. Colin Munro, riding on luck, tormented Indian bowlers.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. Guptill and Munro added 105 runs for the first wicket in 11.1 overs. Guptill departed at 45. However, Munro, dropped a couple of times and survived a run-out chance, scored an unbeaten 109 off 58 balls to take the team to 196/2 in 20 overs.

Boult struck early, as India lost both openers Rohit Sharma and Sikhar Dhawan in the second over. Shreyas Iyer (23) did not last long either. Hardik Pandya departed early, as India slumped to 67/4 at one stage.

Although Virat Kohli (65) batted well, MS Dhoni was restricted by Kiwi bowlers initially. That put more pressure on Kohli. Dhoni scored 49 off 37 balls, as India finished at 156/7 in 20 overs. Trent Boult took 4 wickets.

The 3rd and deciding T20I would be played in Thiruvananthapuram on November 7.
