ODI Double Hundreds & Victory Margin @ 153 Runs

When Rohit Sharma scored a record 264 off 173 balls to become the only cricketer to score two double hundreds in ODI and shattered the highest individual score in ODIs, he did not know that he contributed to a unique record that involved Indians only. Only three players have scored double hundreds in ODIs and they all are Indians. The coincidence is that they helped the team win by the same margin each time.

It all started with Sachin Tendulkar, who scored the first double hundred of ODI history. Sachin remained unbeaten on 200* against South Africa in Gwalior ODI on February 24, 2010. India scored 401 in that match and bowled the Proteas out for 248. They won the match by 153 runs.

On December 8, 2011, Virender Sehwag became the second player in the history of ODI cricket to score a double hundred. He made 219 to help India post 418 against the West Indies in Indore. India bowled West Indies out for 265 and won the match by 153 runs.

Rohit Sharma scored his first double hundred (209) on November 2, 2013 against Australia in Bangalore, but the victory margin was different. When he scored his second double hundred in Kolkata on November 13, 2013, history repeated itself. He helped India post 404. Sri Lanka bowled out for 251 to lose the match by 153 runs.

The victory margin remained the same in all three matches when the Indian players scored double hundreds with the exception of Bangalore ODI in 2013.
